Application Requirements

Must be a U.S. citizen and a Massachusetts resident currently enrolled as a high school senior in the state of Massachusetts at the time the application is submitted.

Applicant is pursuing higher education at an accredited not for profit institution as a major in business, engineering, education, or healthcare. Other majors may be considered at the time of application. If the applicant is planning to pursue a trade or other certified major other than to at a college, the field chosen should show a high likelihood of employability at time of graduation.

Must qualify as a financial hardship. Parent/Guardian tax returns for the prior year will be required at time of application. Should these not exist, circumstances should be explained and other documents may be accepted. The SFCT Board of Trustees will evaluate AGI levels as part of the review and award process.

Participation in extra curricular activities both at school and in the community is a plus. Applicants who do not have this experience because they have needed to work will not be penalized

Transcripts and recommendations will be required as part of a complete application.

Contained in the application will be an essay where the applicant will need to document how they have persevered above financial and other hardships and what makes them deserving of the SFCT Scholarship for Perseverance

Awards will be paid directly to the school/institution after any other financial aid and awards have been applied.

Application will be evaluated by the SFCT Board of Trustees. It is the express and sole decision of the trustees to who and size of the awards which will be announced on our website.

Applications will be due by midnight on March 15th. Final decisions will be made no later than April 5th.

As part of the application review, finalists will be required to meet remotely and/or in person during the 2 week review period in March.

Requirements to Maintain

Ideally aware recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher. GPA’s lower than 3.0 will need to be explained where the Board of Trustees will review for acceptability

Amount of awards subsequent to the initial yearly award will be equal to or greater than the initial award.

Majors and concentrations of study must adhere to those detailed in the Application Requirement section above.

Students must attend per semester support and check-in meetings with SFCT to discuss general educational needs, any struggles, and any added resources that may be needed to ensure success. These will be remote.
